This 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood Miller-Meteor Hearse is a rare and iconic Futura Landaulet model, built by the renowned Miller-Meteor coach works. With only 45,000 original miles, this Cadillac hearse was owned by the Jones Funeral Home in Pennsylvania and has never been driven more than a mile by anyone outside the original owners. The vehicle last underwent inspection and registration in 1981 and has since received a comprehensive body-on restoration. The restoration covered the frame, suspension, brakes, exhaust, wheels, tires, motor, transmission, and several other key components, sparing no expense in bringing this Cadillac hearse back to mechanical excellence.
While the body has undergone significant restoration, including bead blasting, zinc priming, and professional replacement of rocker panels and inner rear wheel wells, some repairs are still needed. The rear quarters and door bottoms show minor rust, but there is no major rust damage elsewhere. The interior is remarkably well-preserved for its age, although the front seat cover and carpet will need replacement. The dash pad cover remains in good shape, though the original padding has deteriorated. Included with the hearse is a photo of the coach in front of the funeral home in 1958, along with the original owner’s manual, electrical diagram, and correspondence from Miller-Meteor to the funeral home, offering a rich historical context for this unique vehicle.
As one of the few Futura Landaulet models produced in 1958, this 1958 Cadillac hearse is a truly one-of-a-kind example. Most vehicles produced by Miller-Meteor that year were limo-style or full landau versions, making this model especially rare and desirable. Complete and highly original, this hearse is a standout piece of Cadillac history, perfect for collectors and enthusiasts alike.
