This 1974 Cadillac Fleetwood Superior Hearse was last seen for sale for $6000 in Edna, Texas.
This 1974 Cadillac Hearse, built by Superior, features a 600 HP 502 cid MTS-built engine. Starting as a 472 Cadillac engine, it was crafted by Maximum Torque Specialists and now produces 550 ft/lb torque. The engine has less than 200 miles on it and has been meticulously rebuilt with top-tier components like Cloyes Street full roller timing set, MTS hydraulic roller camshaft, and custom 4340 steel H beam forged rods. The block was stripped, baked, and acid-dipped before being rebuilt, ensuring durability and performance. This Cadillac hearse is a true powerhouse, but the intake needs welding, re-tapping, or replacement due to a backfire incident.
Other key upgrades include a rebuilt transmission with less than 300 miles on it, paired with a mild shift kit and 1800 rpm stall converter. The cooling system features a new OEM Commercial Cadillac 4-row brass and copper radiator. Fuel delivery has been optimized with a Summit Racing Street and Strip Fuel Pump, Fram HPG1 fuel filter, and Holley 870 CFM carburetor. The braking system has also been updated, with new rear wheel cylinders and some brake lines replaced.
This Cadillac rides on Centerline Trigon wheels—15×7 in the front and 17×8 in the rear—with BF Goodrich Radial TA tires in the front and Goodyear Eagle II tires in the rear. Additional modifications include a custom-made aluminum steering wheel, 12-volt electrics, and a new fuel level sensor. The car’s unique mix of power and vintage style makes it a standout on the road.
While this Cadillac has been sitting for 3-4 years, it remains a prime project for enthusiasts. The backfire incident, caused by improper carburetor installation, needs attention, but once addressed, this 1974 Cadillac Hearse will be ready to hit the road, boasting unparalleled power and style.
