1934 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Hearse by Alpe & Saunders
VERY RARE 1934 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Hearse with a body by Alpe & Saunders. Chassis GUB72 was initially fitted with an enclosed-limousine body style delivered on March 2nd, 1934 to Henley’s House Ltd for “Use in the U.K. Town and Touring.” The hearse body was fitted shortly afterwards. All documentation from the Rolls-Royce Owner’s Club proving authenticity provided with the funeral car. UK registration “BGJ954” is matching with both front and rear plates. California Blue Plates are also matching.
This 1934 Rolls-Royce hearse has its original drivetrain, which was rebuilt on June 28th, 1984, with new bearings, ground crank, new wrist pins, etc. The rebuilt engine has been driven less than 1,000 miles since that time. See the video below of the engine freely turning over and running. The engine is free, and although it will run on starting fluid, it does not run by itself (carburetor needs to be cleaned in order for it to run properly). Many records and receipts to show the various parts and work done to the hearse over the years, such as re-chromed items, rear door glass seals, rear door handle hardware, window regulators, radiator fan bearings, drums turned, clutch resurfaced, and many more.
All glass is in excellent condition. Chrome on the front of the hearse is in excellent condition as well. The hearse does not appear to have any rust, except for some on the surface. The all-aluminum body and undercarriage is in good condition for its age, as it has been in storage for many years. All parts listed in the photos are what comes with this hearse. Many wood and trim pieces, along with the wheel covers, and tools. Tires hold air and the hearse rolls freely for transportation.
